About Counselling & Psychotherapy #01About Counselling and Psychotherapy

I view the work of counselling and psychotherapy as collaborative. We would work together, to decipher where and how things may have gone off track for you and how you can best respond to the challenge/s that you are facing. When therapy works best it can assist you in finding a more deliberate and authentic way of living. As a result of insight, awareness, and at times grieving, along with a deeper understanding of your inner strength, you can feel more empowered and in a sense outgrow your difficulties and experience relief from the symptoms that trouble you.

The Therapeutic Relationship

Research has shown that effective therapy is related to the quality of the relationship you have with your therapist. My style of working focuses on using the relationship with the client as the vehicle for change. I focus on providing a relationship that feels emotionally and psychologically engaging and is responsive to your individual needs.

The Difference Between Counselling and Psychotherapy

The difference between counselling and psychotherapy is a matter of depth and time. In practice the two overlap a lot, but in terms of time and depth, it really depends on the nature and context of the difficulty or distress that you bring. This is something we can discuss and come to an agreement on together.
